About Me

My name is Alex, I am 17, and I love taking photographs. I haven't been taking photographs for very long; I am self-taught and I’m learning fast with every photo I take. I adore black and white photographs and the work of Juergen Teller.

The style of my photos is mostly vintage-inspired; you could almost call them keepsake-like.

I began taking photographs back in the summer of 2010 when a good friend asked me if I would shoot her modeling portfolio. I enjoyed shooting and editing the photographs so much that I began to bring my camera everywhere I went; documenting every moment of my summer spent in the company of friends. I began photographing any friend or family member that happened to be around when a jolt of inspiration struck me.

Since the school year began back in August my shoots have become much less frequent and my photographs have been mostly of myself - because I am my most accessible model. My creative juices have not ceased to run however; my list of ideas is growing every day.

I love fashion and that was what got me into photography the most. I love fashion for the way it plays a roll in everyday life because we live our lives in it. I don't have millions of dollars to spend at Bloomingdale's or Neiman Marcus but I get buy on a budget and with Marshall's and TJ Maxx and the occassional splurge on Xmas and my birthday. I can't afford most of the labels that I would like (Vivienne Westwood and Chanel namely) but Free People and Jeffrey Campbell have became my "affordable" weapon of choice...mostly sales rack.

I really became interested in photography when I began reading fashion magazines more. I began collecting Marc Jacobs ads and sticking them in a little book for me to look at. Juergen Teller is the genius behind these photos and he is a great inspiration for my own work.
